In the quiet depths of the cellar, I always find peace.\nSometimes all it takes is the scent, the silence, the intimacy \u2014 other times it's the flavors and the company that transport me from this rushing world to another, a much better place. We may say it so often it's become a bit of a clich\u00e9: our cellar is an \u201cunderground heaven\u201d \u2014 but it truly is. The cellar and the wine have a soul, just like a family. That\u2019s what makes a family winery so different from a larger winemaking operation. From the grape harvest to the wine itself, we put our heart and soul into everything \u2014 to create something better, something that encourages people to slow down, stop for a moment, rest, and reflect on what makes life worth living.\n\nTo enjoy life a little more, to care for one another.\nTo pay attention to family, friends, to what they have to say \u2014 and to what we aim to share through our wine: a drop of cheer, joy, pleasure, peace, intimacy, and radiance. And most importantly, faith.\nFaith that our work has meaning. That the vintage will be beautiful. That our guests will enjoy our wines, that they\u2019ll love our cellars \u2014 and to feel that nothing is impossible for us, because the good Lord holds our hands.\n\nWe only need to set the goal \u2014 and He will help us find the way.\nBut along the way, it feels good to raise a glass of Tokaji with good people in a good place, and sometimes, simply to find peace.<\/span><\/p>\n

G\u00f6tz Winery is located in the Swabian village of Hercegk\u00fat, which lies approximately 3 kilometers from S\u00e1rospatak in the heart of the world renowned Tokaj wine region, and approximately 240 kilometers northeast of Budapest. The village's scenic hillside rows of historic wine cellars in K\u0151poros and Gombos-hegy form part of the World Heritage Site.
\n\nHungarian wines have always been popular throughout Europe. However, the Tokaj Wine Region is home to world-famous specialty wines made with our unique grapes grown in our rich tufa soil. Tokaji wine is uniquely Hungarian and a specialty sought by wine lovers worldwide. Many wine regions elsewhere have tried unsuccessfully to copy our wines' feature colors, long-lasting fragrances and delightful flavors.
\n\nThe Tokaji Asz\u00fa grape nearly went extinct, but was saved from falling into oblivion a decade ago through the hard efforts of the G\u00f6tz family and other local Asz\u00fa winemakers.
\n\nIn addition to Asz\u00fa wine specialties, our dry and fruity wines have also gained in popularity.

Our love and admiration of grapes and wines as well as the respect of the family's tradition of hard work play a definitive role in the reputation of G\u00f6tz Winery. The excellent, productive vineyards of our family business, which include new and old-growth vines, are spread over 17 acres on six separate parcels of land.
\n\nWith vineyards situated in Kincsem and Bartalos in Tolcsva, in Zsad\u00e1nyi at the border of S\u00e1razsad\u00e1ny, and in Cs\u00e9csi, Darn\u0151 and Szegf\u0171 near S\u00e1rospatak, the G\u00f6tz family is able to dedicate our winemaking skills into a diverse selection of wines.
\n\nA naturally climate-controlled cellar is an indispensable element of our wine quality. G\u00f6tz Winery ripens and stores our wines in Hungarian oak barrels stored underground in rhyolite-tufa tunnels, which continuously maintains the temperature at 9\u00b0C year round.
\n\nThe high degree of humidity deep in the cellars, combined with the natural compounds emitted from the barrels of ripening wine, team to create a natural mold which lines the interior of the cellar's walls. Called noble mold (Cladosporium cellare), it is a harmless yet vital element that supports the climate necessary for the proper production of our wines.<\/div>

The grapes and asz\u00fa berries we harvest are processed by our family estate, where we craft high-quality wines and specialty wine products.\nThese are aged in our winery located on the four-level Gombos Hill cellar row in Hercegk\u00fat, which is part of the World Heritage.<\/span><\/h5>\n
