G\u00f6tz Winery is a traditional family wine cellar dedicated to producing high-quality wines. Every step of the winemaking process \u2014 from vineyard cultivation to aging and bottling \u2014 is carried out with exceptional care and attention to detail.<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

G\u00f6tz Winery is located in the picturesque Swabian village of Hercegk\u00fat, just about 3 kilometers from S\u00e1rospatak. The village is home to two cellar rows, K\u0151porosi and Gombos Hill, both of which have been part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 2002. Hungarian wines have long enjoyed a strong reputation across Europe, but the Tokaj Wine Region is the true home of world-renowned wine specialties. Tokaji wine is a Hungarian gem that has often been imitated, but never successfully \u2014 it has maintained its prestige even through the most difficult times.<\/span><\/p>\n

Over the past decade, Tokaji Asz\u00fa wines have been rescued from obscurity and rediscovered. Here, you\u2019ll encounter a vibrant symphony of intense and long-lasting scents and aromas \u2014 a sensory experience unmatched anywhere else in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alongside these exceptional sweet wines, fresh and fruity quality wines are also gaining popularity, offering a new perspective on the region\u2019s winemaking character. The love and admiration for grapes and wine, along with a deep respect for hard work, play a defining role in the life of G\u00f6tz Winery \u2014 values passed down as a family legacy. Our family business cultivates 17 hectares of excellently located, first-class vineyards spread across six different plots.<\/span><\/p>\n

These vineyards provide an ideal opportunity to produce every type of Tokaji wine. On our south- and southwest-facing slopes \u2014 some newly planted, others more established \u2014 you\u2019ll find all the traditional Tokaji grape varieties. The vineyards are located in Tolcsva (Kincsem and Bartalos), near S\u00e1razsad\u00e1ny (Zsad\u00e1nyi), and close to S\u00e1rospatak (Cs\u00e9csi, Darn\u0151, and Szegf\u0171 vineyards).<\/span><\/p>\n

A good cellar is essential to quality winemaking. G\u00f6tz Winery ages its wines in a rhyolite tuff cellar, which maintains a constant temperature of 9\u202f\u00b0C year-round. In these barrels, we mature and store our wine specialties. The high humidity, combined with the natural compounds released from the aging wines, nourish the mold colonies on the cellar walls \u2014 the noble mold Cladosporium cellare \u2014 which form a continuous layer and help maintain the ideal cellar climate.<\/span><\/p>\n

For smaller groups (generally less than 20 people), the cellar visit begins with a tour of the bottling facility where we produce wines with controlled ripening. Here the guests can become familiar with the mysteries of producing reductive Tokaji wines and the technology of wine production.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following the bottling facility tour we will travel the short distance (5 minutes by vehicle) to visit the nearby rows of wine cellars in Gombos-hegy - a designated World Heritage site - where you will tour our spacious underground ripening cellar tunneled in rhyolite-tufa and taste selections of our winery. During this portion of the tasting tour, we introduce our visitors to the short history of Hercegk\u00fat, present day Tokaj-Hegyalja, our family business and, of course, we describe the tasted wines. Our wine tasting room is also suitable for various events. Special entertainment, such as Gypsy bands, for example, can be arranged for special events.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our tasting cellar seats up to 200 guests and meals (cold or warm) can be provided with advance coordination. Please order these based on preliminary negotiations. The cellar visit and wine tasting take about 1.5-2 hours (+ meal if required). For groups of 50 people and larger, we will divide into smaller groups and rendezvous everyone together in the wine cellar for tastings.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you intend to stay in the area overnight, we can assist you with organizing accommodations as well as other sightseeing programs. For example, we recommend our visitors complete their tasting tour with a short walk up Hercegk\u00fat's 14 Stations of the Cross path, an approximately one kilometer gently winding path behind our cellar which leads to a hilltop offering of beautiful 360-degree view of the town and neighboring landscape.<\/span><\/p>\n

If desired, we can even bring our wine tasting or wine dinners to you at your favorite restaurant or business events elsewhere in Hungary.<\/span><\/p>\n
